I bought this as a quick reference if needed. If you are new to Autocad and want a how-to guide, this would work for you. I think this could also be used for ACAD 2010-2012 instead of buying a new book for each version. (They're the same for those years) I however didn't need the book and any information I needed to know is readily available on the internet. For instance: AMPSNAPPOWERDLG or DIMASO commands are not in the book but I searched online and found what I needed. If you aren't familiar with why you would need those commands then the book will work for you.
The book is well layered, starting from the 'basics' and advancing up to the master's level. Easy to follow and it does offer practice links for you to play with and hone your newly acquired knowledge and skill. I highly recommend it over trying to following the program supplied handbook. That publication always assume you already know CAD. I didn't.GO FOR IT!

I had to learn to use autocad in one week... this was a huge help. I am now extremely proficient with ACAD 2012 and I always have this book as a reference on my desk in case I have questions. Highly recommend this for anyone trying to do a crash course in ACAD.
It's an OK book. Sort of glosses over a lot of stuff. But it is better than not having it.
I bought this book for work purposes, and it has helped me learn the basics of AutoCad LT. The one down side is that you cannot easily thumb through it for the information you need, because there is background you need to know- and that is probably as a result of the program. Easy to follow and entertaining.

It could have gone into a little more depth and a better glossary. I'm slowing learning AutoCad after an 8 year hiatas.
