Too bad these went out of stock years ago. You've gotta have it if you own Vol I. If you intend to try to be true to the stick bow and the people and their culture, it's great to have these encyclopedias. Our ancestors did some pretty horrible things to the Great Nations and if you truly wish to honor the "People", these are great references. I Just wish Jim Hamm never stopped more printing.
As an avid archer and bowyer as well as an engineering instructor, I find the clear line drawings and measured dimensions to be invaluable in my study of the tools used by Native American archers in the 17th through 19th centuries. I like to know why, and I like to test and measure. Using the information contained within I build to dimension, weigh, and chronograph each bow that piques my interest. I have found no other source of accurate, credible information to match what one finds in these books, both Volumes 1&2. Allely and Hamm have done a tremendous service to all of us interested in traditional archery. For those interested in how to build and/or design a good self bow, I direct your attention to The Bowyer's Bible Vol. 1-4, reviewed elsewhere and edited by Hamm.
my son talked me into getting him these books, he said they would help him learn to make a bow of his own.I have looked threw it and it looks like it will work.
